FAQ

As you already know, this year, due to COVID-19, the tenth ABOAGORA Symposium at the Sibelius Museum on 19–21 August is going to adopt a new, hybrid form. The whole event will be live streamed and recorded, thus making it safe to follow the Symposium from your office, sofa, or even from the pier, surrounded by water. Parts of the programme at the museum will also be conducted remotely.

  • Where can I register?

Register by 14 August at:

https://konsta.utu.fi/Default.aspx?tabid=88&tap=9584

Please make sure to leave your up to date contact information during registration!

Update on 6 August: We have reached our maximum capacity of at-site-participants! From now on you can register to follow Aboagora remotely (online).

  • Is participation in ABOAGORA free of charge?

There is no registration fee this year, but registration is mandatory, both for participating online and at the site.

  • Why do I have to leave my e-mail and phone number during registration?

We ask you to provide your e-mail and phone number during registration so we can keep you updated in this uncertain situation. You will also get an email with instructions and the link to the ABOAGORA webinar after the registration is closed.

  • Will attending the Sibelius Museum be safe?

This year we will be able to host a smaller live audience, around 80 people, at the Sibelius Museum.

Cleaning at the Sibelius Museum is enhanced, the audience number will be limited, and guests are kindly reminded about safety distances as well as hand and coughing hygiene. Coffee and snacks will be served outdoors. For safety reasons, the Closing Reception will also take place outdoors.

Symposium guests are asked to take safety guidelines related to the COVID-19 situation into consideration. Please remember that you should not attend the event if you have flu symptoms!

Remember that you can always cancel your participation in the Sibelius Museum, and decide to follow Aboagora online instead!

Update on 6 August: We have reached our maximum capacity of at-site-participants. From now on you can register to follow the symposium online.

Please note that this information may be subject to sudden changes due to the COVID-19 situation: we will follow the orders and guidelines of the Government and the health authorities.

  • Will there be hand sanitizers at the site?

Hand sanitizers will be available, and there will be several opportunities to wash your hands.

Wearing a mask is recommended but not mandatory! There are going to be masks available at the Museum, but if you have your own masks, we recommend using them.

  • What if there are changes in the COVID-19 situation?

ABOAGORA and the Sibelius Museum will adhere to the orders and guidelines of the Government and the health authorities regarding physical distance and other relevant matters. We follow the situation closely and reserve all rights to changes.

  • What should I do if I have already registered, but start to feel unwell before the Symposium?

You can always cancel your participation in the Sibelius Museum, and decide to follow Aboagora online instead!

Symposium guests are asked to take safety guidelines related to the COVID-19 situation into consideration. Please remember that you should not attend the event if you have flu symptoms!

You don’t have to inform us if you would like to cancel your participation in the Sibelius Museum. We will send all registered participants instructions on participating online if you feel like doing so instead!

  • How can I follow ABOAGORA online?

We are going to use the webinar function in Zoom to stream this event.

You will get an email with the link to the webinar and some more instructions after the registration is closed.

  • Do I need a computer or an application to follow ABOAGORA online?

You do not necessarily need a computer to follow ABOAGORA live-stream on Zoom, it also works well on mobile devices.

However, the best way to take part especially in online discussions is to use a computer with a decent Internet connection. You will also need some equipment to hear and perhaps to speak. An ordinary headset will suffice.

We recommended downloading the ZOOM app; you can download it (ZOOM Client for Meetings) at https://zoom.us/download

Please note that you do not need to create a ZOOM account for participating in the event! You will get an email with instructions and the link to the webinar after the registration is closed.

  • How do I make a comment or ask questions on Zoom?

When you enter the ZOOM webinar, you will automatically be muted and your video is off. You will be able to choose later whether you want to use video (meaning that other participants can see you).

If you want to ask a question or make a comment:

  1. Write your question or comment in the ZOOM chat. Your comment/question can be read either by the chair of the session or you may read it aloud yourself if you like. Either way, write your question or comment in the chat first!
  2. If you want to make your comment or ask a question yourself, you can ask for your turn in the chat or you can use the raise your hand feature. It indicates to the chair that an attendee has a question and would like to be unmuted to speak.
  • Can I watch recordings of ABOAGORA after the live stream has ended?

We are going to publish edited, high-quality versions of the live-stream recordings after the event on our YouTube-channel: https://www.youtube.com/user/Aboagora
