Falling Walls Lab Finale 2018 available via livestream!
It’s almost here!
The 2018 Falling Walls Lab Finale will be held on Thursday, November 8 in Berlin, Germany. 100 finalists from all over the world will present their breakthoughs during this exciting event, which is available via livestream at https://falling-walls.com/livestream.
The winner of this year’s Turku Lab, Rajesh Koppolu (Åbo Akademi University), will be presenting his idea, Breaking the Wall of High-throughput Material Processing, with number 90. He will be presenting in Session 3, which takes place from 3.15 to 4.45 pm (CET, GMT+1).

Falling Walls Lab Turku
The Falling Walls Lab Turku was held in The Donner Institute in September 14.
The winner of this year’s contest is Rajesh Koppolu (Åbo Akademi University): Breaking the Wall of high-throughput material processing.
The second place went for Pablo Pérez Chaves (University of Turku): Breaking the Wall of deforestation in Amazonia
The third place went to Sepideh Parvanian (Åbo Akademi University): Breaking the Wall of EV. therapeutic effects in fibrosis

Aboagora’s registration deadline has been extended to Friday, August 17!
Registration fee (40 €, students 25 €) covers all presentations, performances and workshops.
All Agora Keynote Lectures are free. Also Wednesday night Lied concert (Marika Kivinen, mezzo and Johan von Schantz, piano: L. Onerva – Shame and Misplaced Guilt) is free of charge and open to public.

Falling Walls Lab Finale 2017
On November 8, Niklas Tuomola and Andreina Kero represented Falling Walls Lab Turku in the Lab Finale in Berlin, where 100 international and interdisciplinary finalists presented their winning ideas. They were also awarded a ticket for the international Falling Walls Conference on November 9.

The winners of the Lab Finale 2017 are: Agnes Reiner (Universität Wien/ AIT Austrian Institute of Technology/Medizinische Universität Wien/A*Star Singapore), Breaking the Wall of Ovarian Cancer (1st place); Ashwin Charles (Universiti Malaysia Pahang), Breaking the Wall of Wastewater Treatment (2nd place); Srilahari Namani (AIMST University), Breaking the Wall of Mosquito Borne Diseases (3rd place); and Montaser Mohammedalamen (University of Khartoum), Breaking the Wall of Disability through the Brain (audience award). Congratulations to all!
The top three winners of the Lab Finale had the opportunity to give their talk on the grand stage of the Falling Walls Conference in front of 600 guests – among them institution leaders and decision makers and a worldwide audience via livestream. All three winners also received a cash prize. The 1st place winner received 1000€, the 2nd place winner received 750€, and the 3rd place winner received 500€.

Aboagora 2017: “Becoming/Verðandi”, August 23-25, brings together the arts, humanities, and sciences to explore the theme of “becoming” – the idea of incompleteness and being in the making, of possibility and potentiality. The presentations will discuss topics such as evolution, the constitution of Finnish identity, artistic research, daydreaming, climate change, migration, writing, and sexual identity. The registration fee is 35 € (20 € for students). The fee includes participation for all keynote lectures, admission to all workshops, coffee/tea with small snacks during coffee breaks and the Closing Reception on Friday, August 25.
